Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven and Glen Garioch Whisky Tour
Friday 28th June | 9.15 am - 17.00
Limited spaces available. Price includes: Tour guide, transfers, entry tickets to castle and whisky distillery and lunch.
The coach will collect you from Aberdeen at 9.15am. Then we will drive along the scenic coast to arrive in the picturesque seaside town called Stonehaven. A few miles further along the coast, we will arrive at one of our most striking castles in Scotland, Dunnottar Castle. Perched high on top of a flat-topped rock with sheer cliffs on three sides, the ruins of this ancient castle will not disappoint. We will spend about an hour and half here exploring the castle and its rich history. (Note: there are 180 steps down to the castle/shore, make sure you have sturdy footwear!)
Then we leave the rugged coastline and head inland through miles of rich farming land. We arrive in the pretty Dee valley, an area that revels in its connections with the Royal family, who have been spending their summer holidays in the area since 1848 when Queen Victoria fell in love with Deeside. Now known as “Royal Deeside”! Here we will have a delicious lunch in 1 of the many eateries that surround this area.
After lunch we will leave the River Dee area and drive North, through the lovely farming landscape to arrive at Glen Garioch Distillery. This is 1 of Scotland’s oldest operating distilleries and is the most easterly! Glen Garioch whisky is a rare find indeed! The distillery is situated in the heart of Old Meldrum, a quaint market town.
After spending time at this amazing distillery and having sampled quite a few different drams, we can make our way back to the “Granite City”. You will see some of the lovely city highlights before arriving at Aberdeen for approx. 5pm.
