Arriving into Edinburgh by air

Edinburgh International Airport is situated to the west of Edinburgh, around 12 km from the City Centre and McEwan Hall. The journey can be easily made using the frequent tram services , airport bus Airlink, by taxi or Uber. From the city centre, McEwan Hall can be easily reached within a 13-15 minute walk as you walk past the historic sites of Edinburgh. 

Tram

Trams are one of the easiest ways to get to and from the airport with fast and frequent services to Edinburgh city centre and onwards. Tram tickets can be purchased at the tram vending machines located at each tram stop. Once you have bought your ticket you will need to validate it on the tram. 

  • Trams depart Edinburgh Airport every 7 minutes and the journey time to Edinburgh City Centre is approx. 30 minutes
  • Princes Street and St Andrew Square are the stops for Edinburgh City Centre
  • Variety of ticket options available with the most popular being an Adult Airport Open Return (airport and city zone)
  • Tickets must be bought in advance and can be purchased online or via the ticket machines located at every tram stop

Bus

If you prefer to travel by bus, there is an Airlink service running from Edinburgh Airport to Waverley Bridge (Edinburgh City Centre)

  • Airlink bus tickets can be bought online, or on the spot from the bus driver-– please note card payments only. The Edinburgh transport app can be downloaded here.
  • Buses depart Edinburgh Airport every 10 minutes and the journey time to Edinburgh City Centre is approx. 30 minutes.

Arriving into Edinburgh by train

Edinburgh Waverley is the main rail station in Edinburgh. McEwan Hall is an approx. 13-15 minute walk (0.6 miles from Edinburgh Waverly, Princes Street.

Taxi

There are numerous taxi ranks in Edinburgh. The closest one to City Edinburgh/Edinburgh Waverley is located on Market Street. The journey time from Market Street to McEwan Hall is approx. 10 minutes.
